Getting Started

Scan2Rate is a community-powered product reference app. Point your phone's camera at any barcode and instantly build a personal library of the products you own, want, or have tried.

Beyond saving products, you can write honest ratings and reviews, contribute product photos, and — if you're a business or creator — claim advertising space directly on the listings you submit to the community database.

Yes. Scanning products, saving them to your personal library, writing reviews, and browsing the community database are all free.

The Partner program — which lets businesses and creators advertise their brand on every product page — is a paid feature. See the Become a Partner page for current pricing and details.

Scan2Rate is available as a native mobile app for iOS and Android. You need a device with a working rear camera to scan barcodes.

An account is required to save products to your personal library, write reviews, and contribute content. Signing up is free and only requires an email address.

Scanning & Products

Tap the + button on the My Items tab to open the scanner. Aim the camera at any standard UPC or EAN barcode on a product. The app reads the code and either pulls up the existing product page from the community database or prompts you to add a new listing.

Scan results are instant — no internet search needed for items already in the database.

If the barcode isn't recognised, you'll be invited to submit the product yourself. You can enter the product name, brand, category, and add photos. Your submission is immediately available to the whole community.

The more products the community contributes, the richer the shared database becomes for everyone.

The scanner supports the most common retail barcode formats, including UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, and EAN-8. These cover the vast majority of physical consumer products you'll encounter in stores.

After scanning a barcode, the product detail page opens automatically. It is added to your My Items library as soon as you scan it. You can browse, search, and filter your library from the My Items tab at any time.

Ratings & Reviews

On any product detail page tap Add Rating & Review. Choose a star rating (1–5) and write an optional text review. Your review is published immediately and contributes to the product's community average rating.

You can edit or delete your own review at any time.

Reviews are public and visible to all users of the app. Your display name appears alongside your review. You can update your display name in Settings → Edit Profile.

Yes. On any product detail page tap the flag icon to open the Report Item form. Describe the issue and submit — our admin team will review and take action as needed.

Explore

Explore shows a live community feed of recently scanned products from users near you and around the world. You can see what people are scanning, discover new products, and jump straight to a product's detail page.

It's a great way to find products you weren't looking for but might love.

Partner Program

The Partner program lets businesses, brands, and creators advertise directly inside the Scan2Rate app. As a Partner, your ad banner is displayed on every product detail page — reaching users at the exact moment they're researching or rating a product.

You also get social media profile boosts, the ability to add product video links, and affiliate sales links on item pages.

Tap Apply Now on the Settings tab (or visit scan2rate.app/partners.html) and fill in the application form. Once approved by our team, your account is upgraded to Partner status and you can upload your banner from Settings → Setup Banner.

Your ad banner is an image (logo, promotion, social media handle, etc.) that appears on every product detail page within the app. Every time a user scans a product and views its page, they'll see your banner — giving you consistent, contextual exposure.

You can update or replace your banner at any time from Settings → Setup Banner.

Yes — the program is open to brands, retailers, content creators, influencers, and any individual or organisation that wants to reach a product-conscious audience. All applications are reviewed by our team to ensure they meet our community guidelines.

Account & Profile

Go to the Settings tab and tap the pencil icon next to your name. You can update your display name, profile photo, bio, and social media links.

Account deletion can be requested by emailing support@scan2rate.app from the address associated with your account. We will process the request and confirm deletion within a reasonable time. Some content you contributed (e.g., product listings used by others) may be retained in anonymised form as permitted by our Privacy Policy.

We collect account information (email, display name), usage data (items scanned, reviews written), device info, and content you submit (photos, ratings, reviews). We do not sell your personal information.

The quickest way is via the app: go to Settings → Contact Us — this pre-fills a support email with your app version and device info so we can help faster.

Please use Settings → Contact Us in the app and describe the issue. Screenshots and steps to reproduce are always helpful. We take bug reports seriously and aim to address them in the next update.
